AD/JBK 117/25 Flight Control System (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Kawasaki BK 117 Series Helicopters

Applicability: | Kawasaki Model BK117, BK117A-3, BK117A-4, BK117B-1, BK117B-2 and BK117C-1 helicopters. |
Requirement: | 1. Change the life limits of Hinged Support Assy (P/N 117-421241, 117-421251, 105-42124 and 105-42125) and Bearing Bracket (P/N 117-421331 and 2. Replace the Hinged Support Assy (P/N 117-421241, 117-421251, 105-42124 and 105-42125) and Bearing Bracket (P/N 117-421381 and 105-42123) in accordance with Kawasaki Service Bulletin No.KSB117-266A or later JCAB-approved revisions. Note: JCAB AD No. TCD-6982-2006 dated 15 September 2006 refers. |
Compliance: | 1. Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD. 2. Before accumulating 2100 flight hours (FH). If the FH have already exceeded 1800 hours at the effective date of this AD, the parts must be replaced within the following applicable time limits: Parts which have accumulated between 1800 and 2100 FH inclusive must be replaced within the next 300 FH, after the effective date of this AD, or before reaching 2300 FH, whichever comes first. Parts which have accumulated between 2100 and 2400 FH inclusive must be replaced within the next 200 FH, after the effective date of this AD, or before reaching 2500 FH, whichever comes first. Parts which have accumulated between 2400 and 2800 FH inclusive must be replaced within the next 100 FH, after the effective date of this AD, or before reaching 2800 FH, whichever comes first. Parts which have exceeded 2800 FH, before further flight. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 October 2006. |
Background: | The actions detailed in this AD are intended to prevent fatigue failure of the flight control system. |
