AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/J4100/5 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
BAe Systems (Operations) Jetstream 4100 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/J4100/5 Amdt 1 | Airworthiness Limitations | 8/2008 |
Applicability: | All Model Jetstream Series 4100 aircraft. |
Requirement: | Amend the approved aircraft maintenance programme to incorporate the instructions of British Aerospace J41 Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Chapter 05-10-10 (Airworthiness Limitations), 05-10-20 (Certification Maintenance Requirements), and 05-10-30 (Critical Design Configuration Control Limitations (CDCCL)) - Fuel System), at Revision 29, or later EASA approved revision. Note: EASA AD 2008-0094 refers. |
Compliance: | Within 3 months after the effective date of this Directive. Thereafter, accomplish the tasks within the thresholds and intervals indicated in AMM Chapters 05-10-10, |
| This Amendment becomes effective on 31 July 2008. | |
Background: | The Airworthiness Limitations Section applicable to the British Aerospace Jetstream J41 has been revised. Compliance with these requirements is mandatory in order to maintain airworthiness. Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new EASA AD, which was prompted by the assessment of fuel tank wiring installations required by SFAR 88 and equivalent JAA/EASA policy. BAE Systems has introduced a new AMM Chapter 05-10-30 “CDCCL - Fuel System”. CDCCLs have been identified as requirements for continued airworthiness to address the risk of fuel vapour ignition sources remaining undetected. |
