AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

BAe Systems (Operations) Jetstream 4100 Series Aeroplanes

AD/J4100/12 Passenger Door Roller Guide Shear Cleats 4/2008 DM

Applicability:

Model Jetstream Series 4100 aircraft with constructor’s numbers 41004 through 41099.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with British Aerospace Regional Aircraft Alert Service Bulletin J41-A52-043 Revision 1, Part 1 and Part 2, or later CAA/EASA approved revision.

Note:  UK CAA AD 003-03-97 refers.

Compliance:

For Part 1:  Unless the initial inspection is already accomplished; for doors with less than 7000 landings, inspect at 6000 landings or before 30 April 2008, whichever occurs later.

Doors with more than 7000 landings are to be inspected within 30 days after 20 February 2008, unless already accomplished.

For Part 2:  Carry out repeat inspections at intervals not to exceed 1,500 landings; until accomplishment of BAe Service Bulletin J41-52-050.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 February 2008.

Background:

Passenger door roller guide shear cleats have been found cracked on a fatigue test rig.  If not corrected, this could lead to cracking of adjacent door structure.
