AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/HU 269/91.

Schweizer (Hughes) 269 Series Helicopters

AD/HU 269/91 Main Transmission Pinion Assembly 5/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 May 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1988 against Schweizer Service Information Notice (SIN) No. N-216 (out-of-date) required an inspection for cracking of the pinion assembly of the main transmission.  Failure of the pinion could result in loss of drive to the main rotor.

Compliance was:

1.    For Helicopters: Within 300 hours TIS after 25 January 1988 or by 30 June 1988 whichever occurs first.

2.    For Spares: Before installation on an aircraft after 25 January 1988.

This AD has been sufficiently promulgated for the affected aircraft to have been inspected by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required.
