AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/HU 269/84.

Schweizer (Hughes) 269 Series Helicopters

AD/HU 269/84 Thrust Bearing Tube 5/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 May 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1987 against Schweizer Service Information Notice (SIN) No. N-203 required an inspection of the thrust bearing tubes following manufacturers report indicating that improper bearing tubes had been installed during installation of main rotor drive and thrust bearing.  The requirement is contained in Schweizer 269 Handbook of Maintenance Instructions (HMI).

Compliance was: At next scheduled inspection for Maintenance Release issue after
4 June 1987 and thereafter at each installation of the main rotor hub assembly.

The contents of this AD have been superseded by manufacturer’s actions that must be complied with as required by Civil Aviation Regulation 1988, 42V; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required.
