AD/HU 269/81 Main Transmission Assembly Cancelled (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/HU 269/81.

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 May 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1986 against Schweizer Service Information Notice (SIN) No. N-195 required an inspection of the main transmission for identification and possible replacement of the upper pulley nut lock-washer.  An incorrect washer may lead to loss of torque on the aft pinion nut and possible premature wear of the input pinion shaft.

Compliance was:

1.    At the next 300 or 400 hour inspection after 30 June 1986.

2.    For spares, prior to installation in an aircraft.

This AD has been sufficiently promulgated for the affected aircraft to have been inspected by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required.
