Schweizer (Hughes) 269 Series Helicopters

AD/HU 269/76 Main Rotor Damper Pitch Bearing
Case - Inspection and Modification
5/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 May 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1984 against Hughes Service Information Notice (SIN) No. N-189 required an inspection for cracking around the main rotor damper attach hole in the pitch bearing until modified by fitment of a spacer, which may be locally fabricated, designed for installation under the damper attach bolt, nut and washer to spread the clamping load over a wider area.

Compliance was: As per requirement document effective after 31 January 1984.

Requirement document:

Part I: Inspect within 100 hours of helicopter operation, or at next removal of rotor dampers, whichever is sooner, and each time damper attach bolt is re-torqued, until Part II of this notice is accomplished.

Part II: Modify at next removal of main rotor dampers.

This AD has been sufficiently promulgated for the affected aircraft to have been inspected and modified by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required.
