AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/HU 269/26 Amdt 16.

Schweizer (Hughes) 269 Series Helicopters

AD/HU 269/26 Amdt 16 Retirement Life - Critical Components 5/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 May 2009.

Background:

This AD was raised in 2003 at amendment 16 requiring all components listed in the Schweizer (Hughes) 269 Handbook of Maintenance Instructions (HMI) Appendix B, Table 5, to be retired on or before the times quoted.

The FAA Type certificate Data Sheet No. 4H12 for all models of the Schweizer (Hughes) 269 series contains the retirement lives of critical components (life limited components) and refers to the manufacturers HMI as being essential to the proper maintenance of these helicopters.  The manufacturer HMI Appendix B, Table 5 also contains a "Component Mandatory Replacement Schedule".

Given that matters contained in an aircraft’s Type Certificate prescribes conditions and limitations under which the Type Certificate was issued by the FAA, and accepted by CASA under CTA No. R12 and TAC No. R25; this AD is no longer required.
