| AD/GENERAL/85 | Improved Seats in Transport Category Aeroplanes | 7/2006 |
Applicability: | All Transport Category aeroplanes used in commercial operations under CAR(1988) 206(1)(c), type-certificated after 1 January 1958 and manufactured on or after |
Requirement: | All passenger and flight attendant seats on the aeroplane must meet the requirements of FAR §25.562 in effect on or after 16 June, 1988. Note: FAR §121.311(j) Amdt. 121-315 refers. |
Compliance: | From 27 October 2009. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 6 July 2006. | |
Background: | This Airworthiness Directive requires those applicable aircraft to have passenger and flight attendant seats that meet the current improved crashworthiness standards. This action is necessary because research, accident data, and analysis show that these improvements provide increased occupant protection in aeroplanes involved in impact-survivable accidents. |
