AD/General/38 Amdt 1 Portable Fire Extinguishers Removal of Methyl Bromide, Carbon Tetrachloride and Antifyre Pistole Types Cancelled (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/GENERAL/38 Amdt 1.
Aircraft - General
| AD/GENERAL/38 Amdt 1 | Portable Fire Extinguishers - Removal of Methyl Bromide, Carbon Tetrachloride and Antifyre Pistole Types | 11/2007 |
Requirement: | CANCELLED. |
| This AD is cancelled on 25 October 2007. | |
Background: | This AD was issued in 1967 when some portable fire extinguishers available contained toxic agents such as methyl bromide or carbon tetrachloride, or were triggered by an explosive cartridge (Antifyre Pistole extinguishers). In the 1960’s the Antifyre Pistole extinguishers were discontinued and are no longer available. Under the Ozone protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas laws both carbon tetrachloride and methyl bromide fire extinguishers have been banned. As a result the unsafe condition no longer exists. |
