AD/G1159/21 Amdt 2 - Jumpseat Placard – Installation (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below repeals Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/G1159/21 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001 (1) of CASR 1998 and subsection 33 (3) of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct an unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Gulfstream Aerospace G1159, G-IV and GV Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | All Model G1159 aircraft. |
Requirement: | To prevent injury to an occupant of any jumpseat located between fuselage stations 119 and 169, accomplish one of the following: 1. Install a placard either on the bulkhead adjacent to the jumpseat or any equivalent location approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, utilising a minimum of 3/16 in. (5 mm) high lettering with the wording “JUMPSEAT OCCUPANCY DURING TAXI, TAKEOFF OR LANDING PROHIBITED”. 2. Install the nose landing gear wheel-well bulkhead modification to eliminate drag strut penetration in accordance with GAAC Service change No. 226 Part 11. The placard described in paragraph 1 may be removed on the incorporation of the modification detailed in paragraph 2. |
Compliance: | Within 10 hours time in service after 15 May 1978, unless already accomplished. |

Background: | This amendment clarifies the AD applicability as being only to the original G1159 model (G-II). The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued the original foreign AD (FAA AD 77-13-01) on which this Australian AD is based. |
