AD/F406/15 Aileron Bearing Corrosion (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Reims Aviation F406 Series Aeroplanes

AD/F406/15 Aileron Bearing Corrosion 13/2005

Applicability:

REIMS AVIATION INDUSTRIES F406 aircraft from SN 0001 thru 0092 inclusive.

Requirement:

1.    Inspect the aileron brackets and lubricate the aileron bearings in accordance with the accomplishment instructions of the REIMS AVIATION INDUSTRIES Service Bulletin No F406-59 or later DGAC approved revisions.

2.    Update the AMM Chapter 5-10-01 by inserting Temporary Revision No 6.

Note 1:  The operator’s maintenance program should reflect the latest revision of the AMM following the inclusion of Temporary Revision No 6.

Note 2:  DGAC AD F-2005-177 EASA approval No 2005-6388 dated 2 November 2005 refers.

Compliance:

Within the next 100 flight hours or 3 months after the effective date of this AD, whichever occurs first.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 December 2005.

Background:

This French DGAC has advised of corrosion found on aileron bearings on several aircraft.  This condition, if left uncorrected, could result in the loss of the roll control on the aeroplane.
