For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Fokker F100 (F28 Mk 100) Series Aeroplanes
| AD/F100/73 | Wing-to-Fuselage Fairings | 13/2005 |
Applicability: | All Model F.28 Mk. 0070 and Mk. 0100 aircraft. |
Requirement: | Inspect the wing-to-fuselage fairings in accordance with Section 3 Accomplishment Instructions of Fokker Service Bulletin F100-53-101, dated 30 September 2005, or later CAA-NL approved revision. When incorrect fit, damage, or wear is evident, before further flight, take the necessary corrective actions specified in the Requirement document. Note: CAA-NL AD NL-2005-013 refers. |
Compliance: | Within 12 months after 22 December 2005. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 December 2005. | |
Background: | Reports were received from Fokker 100 operators of flight crews experiencing in- flight difficulties with roll control. Investigation revealed that roll control difficulties were due to ice on the aileron pulleys that are installed on the centre wing spar and located in the main landing gear wheel bays. The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent rainwater, wash-water, or de-icing fluid leaking onto the affected aileron pulleys. |
