AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability:

Model ERJ 190-100 STD, -100 LR, -100 IGW, -200 STD, -200 LR, and -200 IGW aircraft, equipped with main landing gear shock struts listed in Applicability Table 1 of ANAC AD 2008-11-01.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the requirements of ANAC AD 2008-11-01 Amdt
39-1251.

Note:  Embraer Alert Service Bulletin No. 190-32-A033 original issue, or later ANAC approved revision, refers.

Compliance:

Within 200 flight hours after 12 February 2009, unless already accomplished.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 February 2009.

Background:

The manufacturer received reports of several incidents where one of the two bolts that attach the main landing gear locking stay support bracket assembly to the main fitting  was found broken.  The rupture of both attach bolts could result in loss of function of the locking stay, which could lead to collapse of the landing gear.
