AD/ERJ-190/13 Cargo Doors (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Embraer ERJ-190 Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | Embraer ERJ-190( ) aircraft. |
Requirement: | 1. Remove and discard the cover plate from the door surround trim lining in accordance with Embraer Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) No. 190-52-A018. a. Perform a detailed inspection (DET) for signs of interference of the door lock handle with the aft edge liner assembly. b. Rework the aft edge liner assembly according to Embraer Service Bulletin (SB) No. 190-50-0006. 2. Remove the aft surround trim lining to perform a detailed inspection (DET) for signs of damage of the lateral roller fitting on the forward and aft cargo door frames at the fuselage in accordance with Embraer ASB No. 190-52-A018. If no damage is found, no immediate corrective action is required. 3. If any damage is found, during the DET in Requirement 1 of this AD, replace the lateral roller fitting with another one bearing the same part number. For the purpose of this AD, a detailed inspection (DET) is: “An intensive examination of a specific item, installation or assembly to detect damage, failure or irregularity. Available lighting is normally supplemented with a direct source of good lighting at an intensity deemed appropriate. Inspection aids such as mirrors, magnifying lenses, etc., may be necessary. Surface cleaning and elaborate access procedures may be required.” Note 1: The detailed instructions and procedures to accomplish this AD are detailed in Embraer SB Nos. 190-52-A018 original issue and 190-50-0006 original issue, or later revisions approved by the ANAC. Compliance: | For Requirement 1.a: Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished. |
| For Requirement 1.b: If any interference is found - before further flight. If no interference is found - within the next 150 flight cycles after the effective date of this AD. For Requirement 2: For aircraft that have not previously accomplished inspection - Inspect within 150 flight cycles from the effective date of this AD, thereafter repeat the inspection at intervals not to exceed 150 flight cycles from the previous inspection. For aircraft that have been previously inspected - repeat the inspection at intervals not to exceed 150 flight cycles from the previous inspection. For Requirement 3: Before further flight. | |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 3 July 2008. | |
Background: | It has been found the occurrence of two events of aircraft being dispatched and flown with the cargo door open. The actions detailed in this AD are to prevent further occurrences of the aircraft being dispatched with the cargo door being open. |
