AD/EMY/8 Life Jackets Inspection and Modification Cancelled (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/EMY/8.

AD/EMY/8 Life Jackets - Inspection and Modification 3/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 12 March 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1972 required RFD life jackets P/No. RFD/AUST/3/R162 and Sparklet cylinder P/No. 3191/09 to be inspected and modified.  The inspection and modification was necessary to correct the possibility of the copper sealing disc of the Sparklet cylinder being penetrated by the actuating needle of the operating head under static conditions.

Compliance was: Inspect before further flight after 1 September 1972 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 7 days until modified at the next annual inspection of the life jacket after 1 September 1972.

As all affected life jackets would have been inspected and modified by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required.
