AD/EMB-145/9 Ventral Fuel Tank Refuelling Line (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Embraer EMB-135 and EMB-145 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/EMB-145/9 | Ventral Fuel Tank Refuelling Line | 8/2008 |
Applicability: | EMB-145XR model aircraft with serial numbers listed in Table 1.
| Table 1 | ||||
| 145590 | 145677 | 145727 | 145782 | |
Requirement: | Unless previously accomplished, install a bonding jumper between the pilot valve line tube and the pressure refuelling system tube, after removing ventral fuel tank access panel 196FR, as described in the Embraer Service Bulletin 145-28-0026, original issue, or further revisions approved by the Brazilian Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC).
| Note: ANAC AD 2006-12-01 refers. | ||||
Compliance: | Within the next 10,000 hours time in service (TIS) for aircraft with less than 5,000 hours TIS, or within the next 5,000 hours TIS for aircraft with more than 5,000 hours, TIS after 4 January 2007 (the effective date ANAC AD 2006-12-01).
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 31 July 2008. | ||||
Background: | The ANAC has advised that the refuelling line inside the ventral fuel tank on the Embraer EMB-145XR aircraft model is not protected in accordance with SFAR-88 requirements. This Directive corrects that anomaly by the installation of a bonding jumper between the pilot valve line tube and the pressure refuelling system tube. |
