AD/EMB-120/43 Fuel Tank Ignition Sources (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Embraer EMB-120 (Brasilia) Series Aeroplanes
| AD/EMB-120/43 | Fuel Tank Ignition Sources | 3/2006 |
Applicability: | Embraer EMB-120 aircraft. |
Requirement: | Replace the conduits of the fuel tanks ventilation and pilot valves harnesses with hoses. For aircraft serial numbers 120004 thru 120065 that had not incorporated Embraer Service Bulletins Nos. 120-28-0008, original issue, and 120-33-0024, original issue, or further revisions approved by the CTA, reroute the valves harnesses as specified by the Embraer Service Bulletin No. 120-28-0014, original issue, or further revisions approved by the CTA. The detailed instructions and procedures to accomplish this AD are described in the Embraer Service Bulletin No. 120-28-0014, original issue, or further revisions approved by the CTA. Note: CTA AD 2005-12-04 refers. |
Compliance: | Within the next 5000 flight hours after the effective date of this AD. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 March 2006. | |
Background: | This AD results from fuel system reviews conducted by the manufacturer. It has been verified that the conduits of the fuel tanks ventilation and pilot valves harnesses need to be replaced with hoses. In some aircraft the harnesses themselves need to be rerouted, in order to preclude a possible ignition source in the vicinity of the fuel tanks. |
