Embraer EMB-120 (Brasilia) Series Aeroplanes
| AD/EMB-120/36 Amdt 1 | Rotating Beacon Electrical Bonding | 12/2005 |
Applicability: | All EMB-120 model aeroplanes. |
Requirement: | Install a bonding jumper between the rotating beacon and the airframe in accordance with Embraer Service Bulletin 120-33-0037 dated 5 November 2003 or later revision approved by Brazilian Centro Técnico Aeroespacial (CTA). |
| Note: DAC (Brazil) AD 2004-01-06 refers. | |
Compliance: | Within 4000 hours time in service or 30 calendar months, whichever occurs first, after the effective date of the original issue of this Directive. |
| This Amendment becomes effective on 24 November 2005. | |
Background: | The Brazilian Departmento de Aviação (DAC) has advised that, due to a deficiency in the electrical bonding of the rotating beacon, there is an increased possibility of lightning strikes which may damage the aircraft electrical system. The original issue of this Directive required the installation of improved bonding between the rotating beacon and the airframe. |
| This amendment does not change the requirement for the installation of improved bonding but introduces alternate methods of compliance by allowing compliance in accordance with later service bulletins revisions which have been approved by the CTA. | |
| The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 18 March 2004. |
