AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Eurocopter AS 350 (Ecureuil) Series Helicopters

AD/ECUREUIL/116 Battery Overheat Sensing Circuit Wiring 2/2006 DM

Applicability:

EC130 B4 helicopters pre modification MOD 07 3572.

Requirement:

Modify the wiring of the battery overheat sensing circuit in accordance with Eurocopter Alert Telex No. 24A001 dated 20 December 2005.

Note:  DGAC AD F-2006-010 EASA approval No 2005-6454 dated 23 December 2005 refers.

Compliance:

Within 110 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive or before
6 February 2006, whichever occurs first.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 11 January 2006.

Background:

Eurocopter has advised that a malfunction of the battery overheat sensing function , due to incorrect wiring of the battery overheat sensing circuit was found during a scheduled inspection.

This Directive modifies the wiring of the battery overheat sensing circuit to ensure correct operation.
