AD/DW-1/1 Elevator Push Tube Replacement (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001 (1) of CASR. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct an unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

BlanchAir (Eagle / Bellanca) DW-1 Series Aeroplanes

AD/DW-1/1 Elevator Push Tube - Replacement 3/2019

Applicability:

BlanchAir model DW-1 aircraft, Serial Numbers 0001 to 0092 inclusive, except for Serial Number 0074.

Requirement:

1.Accomplish the requirements of United States of America Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airworthiness Directive (AD) 82-22-03, effective 1 November 1982, as in force at the date of commencement of this AD.

Compliance:

1.    a)     Within 25 hours after the commencement date of this AD on aircraft having 400 or more hours’ time-in-service or prior to the accumulation of 425 hours’ time-in-service on airplanes with less than 400 hours’ time-in-service, unless previously accomplished, and

b)    each 400 hours’ time-in-service after any installation of aft elevator push tube assembly P/N 162000-29, unless a new aft elevator push tube assembly part number (P/N) 162000-33 is installed in accordance with the technical instructions of Eagle Aircraft Service Letter (SL) 83-2 dated 13 April 1983 and as in force at the date of commencement of this AD.

Note:  Installation of P/N 162000-33 terminates the requirement of this AD.

This AD commences on 8 February 2019.

Background:

This AD is issued to ensure that all Australian registered BlanchAir DW-1 aircraft comply with the requirements of FAA AD 82-22-03, including any aircraft that have been or will be imported in future.

FAA Approved SL 83-2, issued 13 April 1983, requires installation of aft elevator push tube assembly P/N 162000-33. Compliance with this Service Letter supersedes the requirements of Eagle Aircraft Service Letter No 82-6 and FAA AD 82-22-03.
