Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes

AD/DO 328/73 Flight Compartment Door Locking Device 6/2009

Applicability:

Model 328-100 aircraft, all serial numbers.

Model 328-300 aircraft, all serial numbers.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the requirements of EASA AD 2009-0082.

Note:  328 Support Services GmbH SB-328-25-485 original issue, and 328 Support Services GmbH SB-328J-25-235 original issue, or later EASA approved revisions, refer.

Compliance:

As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of
4 June 2009.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 June 2009.

Background:

A recent incident has been reported where the right hand power lever jammed in the flight-idle position during the landing roll-out on a Model 328-100 aircraft.  The aircraft was stopped by excessive braking.  Investigation revealed that the cockpit door locking device had fallen off the right hand side of the cockpit wall and blocked the right hand power/condition lever pulley/cable cluster below the door.  This Directive requires a one-time inspection of the cockpit door locking device and the surrounding area and the reporting of all findings to the Type Certificate holder.  This is considered interim action and the retrofit of a new design may be implemented later.
