AD/Do 328/65 Power Plant Air Intake (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes

AD/DO 328/65 Power Plant Air Intake 10/2006

Applicability:

Dornier 328-100 series aeroplanes with serial numbers as listed in Dornier 328 Service Bulletins (SB) 328-71-125 Revision 3 or later LBA approved revision and SB-328-71-122 Revision 1 or later LBA approved revision.

Requirement:

Replace the air intake and install a by-pass duct outlet cover and carry out visual and tactile inspections in accordance with SB-328-71-122 Revision 1 and SB-328-71-125 Revision 3 or later LBA approved revision.

The inspections detailed in this requirement are not required if SB-328-30-242 Revision1 and SB-328-30-274 Revision 1 are incorporated.

Note:  LBA AD 1995-156/3 refers.

Compliance:

Air intake installation within 30 days after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished.

Visual and tactile inspections at intervals not to exceed 7 days.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 28 September 2006.

Background:

This AD requires the installation of an improved air intake system with an improved ice protection system.
