AD/Do 328/62 Engine Controls Cam Followers (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/DO 328/62 | Engine Controls - Cam Followers | 6/2006 |
Applicability: | Dornier 328-100 Serial Numbers 3005 up to 3098, 3100, 3103, 3104, 3106, 3107, 3109 and 3110. |
Requirement: | Unless previously accomplished, incorporate Dornier Service Bulletin Note: LBA AD 1998-344/3 dated 11 February 1999 refers. |
Compliance: | Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 8 June 2006. | |
Background: | Due to wear of the power lever cam follower, the flight idle back up system may became inoperative as the micro switches 21 KF and/or 22KF may be open with the power levers are in the flight idle position. This AD requires the incorporation of a modification which is designed to prevent the failure of the flight idle back up system. The referenced LBA AD allowed for inspections prior to incorporation of the modification at a later date; however the date (31 August 1999) for incorporation of the modification has passed before the issue of this AD. Therefore this AD is intended to ensure that the modification has been incorporated. |
