AD/Do 328/47 Roll-Spoiler Actuator Lockplate (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes

AD/DO 328/47 Roll-Spoiler Actuator Lockplate 3/2006

Applicability:

Model 328-100 aircraft, serial numbers 3005 through 3095.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with LBA AD 1998-358.

Note:  Dornier 328 Service Bulletin No. SB-328-27-263.

Compliance:

Before 31 March 2006, unless already accomplished.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 March 2006.

Background:

The manufacturer was informed of an incorrect installation of the roll-spoiler actuator lockplates.  The aircraft maintenance manual did not reflect the correct installation.  An incorrectly installed lockplate could lead to deformation of the fork, which could result in a fatigue fracture.
