AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/DO 328/27 | FDR & CVR Impact G-Switches | 1/2006 |
Applicability: | Model 328-100 aeroplanes with serial numbers 3005 to 3119 inclusive. |
Requirement: | If not previously accomplished, replace the old Flight Data Recorder (FDR) impact G-Switch 3UC and the old Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) impact G-Switch5UB with new impact G-Switches part number 3LO-453/4.25 in accordance with Fairchild Dornier Service Bulletin SB-328-31-390 dated 06 September 2001. |
| Note: LBA AD 2002-239 refers. | |
Compliance: | No later than the next A-Check after the effective date of this Directive. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 January 2006. | |
Background: | The German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) has received advice from the aircraft manufacturer that the FDR and CVR impact G-Switches do not meet the design requirements of JAR/FAR § 25.1459 (a) 5. Incorrect operation of the G-Switches may cause the loss of FDR and/or CVR data following an aircraft accident. |
