AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes

AD/DO 328/20 Circuit Breaker Panels 10VE & 11VE Sealing 1/2006

Applicability:

Model 328-100 aeroplanes with the following circuit breaker panel installed:

Panel 10VE
Panel 11VE

All serial numbers up to and including 131
All serial numbers up to and including 133

Requirement:

1.     If not previously accomplished, carryout the following in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Dornier Service Bulletins SB-328-31-016, dated 2 April 1997:

a.    Perform a visual inspection of circuit breaker panels 10VE and 11VE for damage or signs of burning.

b.    If damage or burning is not found during the Requirement 1.a. inspection, install additional sealing at the contact points of the panel back lighting wires.

2.     If damage or evidence of burning is found during the Requirement 1.a. inspection, replace the panel and install additional sealing at the contact points of the panel back lighting wires in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Dornier Service Bulletins SB-328-31-016, dated 2 April 1997.

Compliance:

For Requirement 1 - Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive.

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1.a. inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 January 2006.

Background:

This Directive requires the inspection of circuit breaker panels for damaged caused by the accumulation of moisture and condensation, the installation of additional sealing and, if necessary, the replacement of damaged panels.
