AD/DO 228/8 Main Wheel/Brake Assembly (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Dornier 228 Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | Model 228-100, -101, and 228-200, -201 aircraft, all serial numbers. |
Requirement: | Action in accordance with LBA AD 87-1. Note: Dornier All Operators Telex AOT 228/86/012 dated 4 November 1986, and Goodyear Service Bulletins DO 228-32-7 and DO 228-32-8, refer. |
Compliance: | Before 30 April 2006, unless already accomplished. |

Background: | The manufacturer received a report that the bushing cup of a main landing gear inboard wheel half migrated from the wheel centre bore. Consequently the inboard bearing failed, and the brake assembly and wheel half were damaged. |
