AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/DHC-2/2.

DHC-2 (Beaver) Series Aeroplanes

AD/DHC-2/2 Hydraulic Control Unit - Selector
Lever Hub Inspection
11/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 23 October 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD, raised in 1964 against De Havilland (Canada) Technical News Sheet (TNS) Series B (R) No. 17, required an inspection of the selector lever hub fitted to the hydraulic control unit of amphibious and retractable ski equipped aircraft.  The inspection was required until a modified hub was installed.  A case had been reported where the engagement dogs on the Dural Hub had sheared resulting in an incomplete function of an amphibious gear.

Compliance was at each daily or overnight inspection.

As all affected aircraft would have been inspected and modified by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required.
