AD/DHC-2/16 Aileron Centre Hinge Bracket - Inspection 11/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 23 October 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1971 required an inspection of the stub tube, with mass balance assembly removed, of each aileron centre hinge bracket for cracks in the weld areas at the connection to the torque tube and around the extremities of the welded bushes.  Action was required following a local report of a stub tube failure and concern at the possibility of mass balance assembly jamming the aileron control should failure occur in the welded areas.

Compliance was required within 100 hours TIS after 31 March 1971, and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 100 hours TIS.

As all affected aircraft would have been sufficiently inspected by now with no defects recorded on the mandatory reporting system over an extended period of time, this AD is no longer required.
