AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

DH 82 (Tiger Moth) Series Aeroplanes

AD/DH 82/15 Mandatory Modifications 12/2007

Applicability:

Model DH-82 and DH-82A aircraft of UK manufacture.

Requirement:

Incorporate mandatory modifications in accordance with de Havilland Support Technical News Sheet (TNS) CT (MOTH) No. 5 Issue 1, or later UK CAA approved revisions.

Note:  UK CAA AD No.s 2731 PRE 80, 2732 PRE 80 and 2733 PRE 80 refer.

Compliance:

Unless already accomplished, within 25 hours time in service after issue of this Airworthiness Directive or before 31 March 2008, whichever occurs first.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 November 2007.

Background:

It has been bought to CASA attention that the UK CAA still list the modifications of TNS CT (MOTH) No. 5 as mandatory.
