| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 May 2008. | |
Background: | Atmospheric corrosion has been found on the Main Gearbox casing, lower area, between the two servo-control anchoring fitting attachment ribs. The corrosion is due to moisture which may be retained in a confined area formed by the incorrect application of PR sealant due to a misinterpretation of the Eurocopter documentation during production. Corrosion weakens the affected area and could in time cause the detachment of the servo control anchor points and lead to loss of control of the helicopter. |
