Ad/Dauphin/88 - Engine Control Selector Switch Guard (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Eurocopter SA 360 and SA 365 (Dauphin) Series Helicopters

Applicability: | AS 365 N3 helicopters without MOD 0739C36. | |
| Note 1: This includes helicopters with MOD 0739B86 embodied in accordance with Eurocopter Service Bulletin 76.00.06 or during customisation by Eurocopter (helicopter serial number 6510, 6561, 6565, 6568, 6571, 6582, 6585, 6587 and 6596 were modified during customisation). | ||
Requirement: | 1. Replace the engine control switch guards on panel 12 ALPHA as follows: | |
| a. Helicopters not modified per MOD 0739B86 - Comply with the instructions in paragraphs 2.B.1, 2.B.2, 2.B.3, 2.B.4 and 2.B.5 of Eurocopter AS 365 Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 76.00.08 or later approved EASA revision. | ||
| b. Helicopters not modified per MOD 0739C36 - Comply with the instructions in paragraphs 2.B.1, 2.B.3 and 2.B.5 of AS 365 ASB 76.00.08 or later approved EASA revision. | ||
| 2. Selector switch guards (selector lifting interlocks) with the following part numbers may not be installed either as an initial installation or as a replacement spare. | ||

Compliance: | For Requirement 1 - No later than 550 hours time in service, after the effective date of this Directive, or 26 October 2007, whichever occurs first. | |
| For Requirement 2 - After the Requirement 1 modification has been accomplished or 26 October 2007, whichever occurs first. | ||
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 26 October 2006. | ||
Background: | This Directive is issued to prevent the engine control selector flipping from FLT to IDLE during flight. The Directive requires the installation of new selector lifting interlocks with locking detents. |
