AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Kelowna Flightcraft (General Dynamics/Convair) Series Aeroplanes

AD/CONVAIR/28 Pressure Refuelling System 11/2006

Applicability:

GENERAL DYNAMICS Model 240/340/440 aeroplanes using turbo-propeller power which has been modified to incorporate underwing pressure fuelling per STC Nos. SA1316WE, SA1132WE, SA1096WE or SA1054WE.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with FAA AD 67-33-03.

Note:  FAA AD 67-33-03 Amdt. 39-528 refers.

Compliance:

As detailed in FAA AD 67-33-03 with a revised effective date of 26 October 2006.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 26 October 2006.

Background:

Over pressurization of the wing fuel tank in affected aeroplane types have been attributed to failure of the upper and lower diaphragm assemblies in the pressure fuelling valves (P/N 2640644 or P/N 2650198).
