AD/CL-600/2 Elevator Inboard Hinge\Fitting - Inspection
and Replacement
12/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 19 November 2009.

Background:

This AD, raised in 1983 against Canadair Challenger TM Alert No.
T-A600-0018-002, dated 16 March 1981, required an initial and repeat inspection of the elevator inboard hinge fittings.  Steel replacement hinges were to be introduced if cracks were found during inspections.

Following the issue of the TM Alert, Canadair Challenger Service Bulletin (SB)
No. 600-0018 dated 28 May 1981 was published.  This discontinued the special check required by the TM Alert because analysis of flight load data and fatigue testing experience indicated a much reduced possibility of cracking occurring.  Fatigue performance was being monitored and the maintenance manual was amended to specify checking at reduced intervals.

As a result, this AD is no longer required.
