2. Repetitive Inspections and Cleaning. (a) At intervals not to exceed 200 hours time-since-last-inspection (TSLI), if no coke is found in screens during initial or any prior inspections, or (b) At intervals not to exceed 100 hours TSLI, if coke is found in screens during initial or any prior inspections. 3. Terminating Actions. Unless previously accomplished: (a) For engines with more than 4,000 hours TSN, within 500 hours TIS after the effective date of this AD, or within 1,000 hours TSLSV, whichever occurs first. (b) For engines with less than or equal to 4,000 hours TSN, prior to 4,500 hours TSN. This constitutes terminating action to the inspections required in paragraph 2 of this AD. |
| This Amendment becomes effective on 14 April 2005. | |
Background: | This Directive was issued requiring the inspection and cleaning of the B-sump oil scavenge screen. The requirement is in response to five in-flight shut down events resulting from the loss of B-sump oil scavenging. In two of the events, there was turbine stage separation and in two of the other events, there was separation of the fan drive shaft. This amendment includes terminating action to the initial and repetitive inspections detailed. The original issue of this Directive became effective 16 May 2002. |
