AD/Cessna 340/36 Deice System Electrical Power (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Cessna 340 Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | Model 340A aeroplanes Serial Numbers 340A0901 through 340A0994 and 340A1002. |
Requirement: | 1. Inspect the aeroplane maintenance records to determine if paragraph B of FAA AD 80-19-10 (wiring inspection and wiring change, in accordance with Cessna Multi-engine Customer Care Service Information Letter (SIL) ME80-31 dated |
| 2. If compliance with paragraph B of AD 80-19-10 cannot be positively determined, perform the wiring inspection and carry out the wiring change, if required, in accordance with Cessna Multi-engine Customer Care SIL ME80-31. | |

Compliance: | For Requirement 1 and 2 - Prior to the issue of an Australian Certificate of Airworthiness. |

Background: | This Directive follows an internal review of Australian Airworthiness Directives (AD) which indicated an Australian AD was not issued in response to FAA AD |
| Whilst CASA acknowledges that currently there are no 340A model aeroplanes from the affected serial number range on the Australian register of aircraft, CASA is obliged to issue an AD reflecting the requirements of an AD issued by the State of Design, as an aeroplane from the affected serial number range may be imported into Australia at any time and that aeroplane may not be in compliance with FAA |
| Consequently this Directive is issued to reflect the terminating requirement of FAA AD 80-19-10. However, given the time since the FAA was issued and that currently no affected aircraft are in Australia, CASA has decided that the compliance should be ‘Prior to the issue of an Australian Certificate of Airworthiness’. |
