            Aeroplane Model

            Serial Numbers

208
208B

20800001 through 20800415

Requirement:

1.    Inspect the left and right wing electrical wire bundles at the anchor attach points for loose and damaged wiring in accordance with Cessna Aircraft Company Service Bulletin (SB) CAB08-02, dated 4 February 2008.

2.    If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspection:

Later revisions of the above SB, approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC) to FAA AD 2008-13-06, are considered acceptable for compliance with the equivalent Requirements of this Directive.

Note:  FAA AD 2008-13-06 Amdt 39-15569 refers.

Compliance:

For Requirement 1 - Within the next 200 hours time-in-service after 28 August 2008 (the effective date of this Directive) or within 12 months after 28 August 2008, whichever occurs first.

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1 inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 28 August 2008.

Background:

The FAA has received reports of chafed wiring found on wire bundles in the left and right wings containing the auto-control wing de-ice system, fuel quantity indication and low fuel annunciation on several Cessna Model 208B aeroplanes.  This condition, if not corrected, could result in incorrect fuel quantity indications, loss of low fuel quantity annunciations or loss of the auto-control wing de-ice system.  This Directive is issued to detect and correct damaged wiring in the left and right wing electrical wire bundles.
