Cessna 208 Series Aeroplanes

AD/CESSNA 208/18 Emergency Power Lever Shear Wire 7/2005

Applicability:

Cessna 208 and 208B aircraft approved for operation under CAR 174B and CAR 175A, Approved Single Engine Turbine Powered Aircraft (ASETPA).

Requirement:

Install a frangible/shear wire that ties the Emergency Power Lever (EPL) to the pedestal cover in accordance with Cessna Service Bulletin (SB) CAB01-15.

Note:  The aircraft maintenance manual details actions to be followed when the frangible/shear wire is found broken.

Compliance:

Unless previously accomplished, within 6 months from the effective date of this Directive.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 7 July 2005.

Background:

Following an incident involving the use of the EPL, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau recommended the fitment of frangible/shear wire between the pedestal and the EPL.  This will help ensure appropriate maintenance actions when the EPL has been used for any reason.
