AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/CESSNA 188/23 Amdt 1.

Cessna 188 (Agwagon) Series Aeroplanes

AD/CESSNA 188/23 Amdt 1 Exhaust System 9/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 28 August 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD, originally issued in 1974, required inspection of the exhaust system for leaks using a pressure test detailed in Cessna Service Letter
SE 73-22.  Since 1980, the SDR data base system has reported one exhaust system failure which was detected at inspection.  As the manufacturer’s maintenance manual and Schedule 5 adequately address the inspection of the exhaust system and only one defect has been recorded on the mandatory recording system, the unsafe condition is contained and therefore the AD is no longer required.
