AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/CESSNA 188/14 Amdt 1.

Cessna 188 (Agwagon) Series Aeroplanes

AD/CESSNA 188/14 Amdt 1 Aileron Control System 8/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 31 July 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD, issued in 1970, required inspection of the aileron operating cables and pulleys for wear.  The AD compliance was at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service.  From 1980 to 1988, the SDR data base revealed 3 aircraft with cable defects.  No defects have been reported since.

As the manufacturer’s maintenance manual and Schedule 5 adequately address this requirement, and minimum defects have been recorded on the mandatory recording system, the unsafe condition is contained and therefore the AD is no longer required.
