AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Avions Mudry Cap Series Aeroplanes

AD/CAP 10/9 Ailerons Spade Supports 5/2005 DM

Applicability:

Model CAP 10B aircraft, serial number 300 and subsequent; and all aircraft below serial number 300 with modification 000302 incorporated (carbon fibre spar - CAP 10C wing).

Requirement:

Inspect the aileron spade supports in accordance with APEX Aircraft Service Bulletin No. 040401, dated October 2004, or a later EASA approved revision.

If cracking is evident during any inspection, before further flight, replace affected spade support with a new design spade support.

Note 1:  Aileron spade supports with the letter “A” in the identification marking are not affected by the inspection requirements of this Directive.

Compliance:

Unless the initial inspection is already accomplished, within 10 flight hours after 4 April 2005.  Inspect thereafter at intervals not to exceed 55 flight hours.

Note:  Installation of a new design spade support constitutes terminating action for the repeat inspection requirement for that spade support position.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 April 2005.

Background:

Reports were received of cracked aileron spade supports on in-service aircraft.
