AD/BR700/12 Damaged Engine Material (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Rolls Royce Germany Turbine Engines - BR700 Series

Applicability: | Rolls-Royce Deutschland (RRD) model BR700-710A1-10, BR700-710A2-20 and BR700-710C4-11 engines. |
Requirement: | 1. BR700-710A2-20 engines S/N 12533 and 12534 must not be installed and operated in any aircraft anymore. 2. Any parts or components of those individual engines held as spares, including those listed in Rolls-Royce Deutschland Worldwide Communication (WWC) WW/20209/1/30 dated 30 May 2008, must not be installed and operated in any BR700-710 series engine. 3. Any BR700-710 series engines, which have parts or components installed that can be traced to having previously been installed in the BR700-710A2-20 engines S/N 12533 and 12534, must not be operated until the relevant parts or components have been exchanged for approved parts or components. All necessary actions must be performed on the basis of the referenced manufacturer WWC. Note: Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) AD D-2008-222 refers. |
Compliance: | For Requirements 1, 2 and 3: Before further flight after the effective date of this AD. |

Background: | The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt has received information from Rolls-Royce Deutschland that BR700-710 series engine material damaged in an aircraft incident may potentially be re-used. The details are provided in RRD Worldwide Communication (WWC) WW/20209/1/30. |
