AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability:

All Model AB412 helicopters, equipped with rescue hoist part number BL10300-60 or part number BL10300-59.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Agusta Technical Bulletin No. 412-59 Revision A.

Note:  ENAC AD 1998-186 refers.

Compliance:

For Part I of the Requirement document:  At each pre-flight inspection after
16 March 2006.

For Part II of the Requirement document:  At each 25-hour inspection after accomplishment of Part I.

For Part III of the Requirement document:  At intervals not to exceed 12 months; after the last 12 month inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 March 2006.

Background:

The manufacturer requires certain actions to prevent loss of the affected rescue hoist’s hook assembly.
