AD/Bell 412/46 External Rescue Hoist Cable Cut Electrical Circuit (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Agusta-Bell Model 412 EP helicopters equipped with external rescue hoists with the following part numbers (P/N): |
| 412-8800-01-202 (Breeze-Eastern BL-20200-402) | |
Requirement: | If not previously accomplished, carry out an inspection of the hoist cable cut electrical circuit and install a cable cut pyrotechnic cartridge. Both actions are to accomplished in accordance with Agusta Bollettino Tecnico 412-112 dated 7 November 2005. |

Compliance: | Before further external hoist operation, but no later than 31 December 2005. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 21 December 2005. | |
Background: | Agusta has received reports of inadvertent firing hoist cable cartridges. This Directive requires a one time inspection of the hoist cable cut electrical circuit for correct operation and allows the reinstallation of the cable cut pyrotechnic cartridge. |
