Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 222 Series Helicopters

AD/BELL 222/2 Amdt 1 Quick Disconnect Dual Controls 7/2005

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 7 July 2005.

Background:

An accident occurred due to loss of cyclic control whilst the helicopter was being flown from the left hand (co-pilot) seat.  Loss of control was attributed to the quick disconnect being improperly installed in the cyclic stick where it attaches to the lever assembly under the co-pilot seat.  Revision A to Alert Service Bulletin (A.S.B). 222U-85-2 changed the locating dimension of the pin of the locking spring on the co- pilot’s cyclic stick.  This AD mandated the A.S.B requirements which are now incorporated into the manufacturer’s technical data.
