Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 222 Series Helicopters

AD/BELL 222/12 Swashplate Drive Link 10/2005

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 29 September 2005.

Background:

This Australian unique AD was issued in response to Bell Helicopter Textron (BHT) Operations Safety Notice (OSN) 222-87-11 and OSN-222U-87-7 dated 30 September 1987 describing a failure of the swashplate drive link, and recommending a close visual inspection each pre-flight check. BHT Technical Bulletin (TB) 222-87-110 dated 09 December 1987 raised the torque of the link bolt which eliminated excessive side loads on the drive link lugs. The country of certification has not mandated the OSN and the requirements of TB 222-87-110 have been incorporated into the maintenance manual. A reduced pre-flight inspection requirement for the swashplate drive link is found in the flight manual, Section 4 Bell 222 FM-1.
