AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 Series Helicopters

AD/BELL 206/166 Main Rotor Latch Bolts 2/2007

Applicability:

Model 206 A helicopters, serial numbers 004 through 660, and 672 through 715; and, Model 206 B helicopters, serial numbers 661 through 671, and 716 through 3216; having main rotor latch bolts, part numbers 206-010-169-001/-003 and
206-011-122-003, installed.

Requirement:

Remove from service the applicable main rotor latch bolts in accordance with BHTC Alert Service Bulletin 206-06-109 original issue, or later Transport Canada approved revision.

Note:  Transport Canada AD CF-2006-23 refers.

Compliance:

At the next scheduled main rotor hub disassembly after 15 February 2007, but no later than 31 March 2007; unless already accomplished.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 February 2007.

Background:

The manufacturer’s re-evaluation of the structural analysis indicates the need for the removal from service of the affected bolts in the main rotor latch application.
