AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BELL 206/160 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 Series Helicopters

AD/BELL 206/160 Amdt 1 High Forward and High Aft Crosstubes 1/2006

Applicability:

Model 206A and 206B helicopters modified by Aeronautical Accessories, Inc. Supplemental Type Certificate SH1392SO, with high forward crosstube, part number 206-321-001 with serial number 1001 through 1152, and high aft crosstube, part number 206-321-002 with serial number 2001 through 2152, installed.

Requirement:

Remove each affected crosstube and inspect for cracks in accordance with Aeronautical Accessories, Inc. Alert Service Bulletin No. AA-03121, dated
25 October 2004.

Replace any cracked crosstube with a serviceable crosstube before further flight.

Note:  FAA AD 2005-16-04 Amdt 39-14209 refers.

Compliance:

Within 300 hours time in service or 60 days after 27 October 2005, whichever occurs first.  Inspect thereafter at intervals not to exceed 300 hours time in service or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

The initial compliance time remains unchanged by this issue.

This Amendment becomes effective on 19 January 2006.

Background:

The FAA received a report of a cracked high forward crosstube.

Amendment 1 is issued to correct the repeat inspection interval calendar compliance time.
