AD/BEECH 65/29 Amdt 1 Outer Wing Electrical Wiring Cancelled (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/BEECH 65/29 Amdt 1.

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 3 July 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD was originally raised in 1971 following an in-flight fire in the outer wing area aft of the two auxiliary fuel tanks.  The cause was believed to be leakage of fuel that ignited after arcing of an electrical wire that had chaffed through due to missing wing rib grommets as the wires pass through the wing ribs, or lack of insulation on support clips.

The AD was subsequently amended in 1989 to consolidate the Queen Air series 65 and 70 models.

Compliance was within 30 hours TIS after 13 December 1971.

Given the extended period this AD has been promulgated, and that a State of Design AD has not been published, it is considered that the continued publication of this AD to be no longer necessary.
